ASPEN ACRES FIRE UPDATE – COAL CREEK & ROCKVALE
As of Friday, July 3, residents in Coal Creek, Rockvale, and the Newlin Ridge area remain under a pre-evacuation notice. This is not a mandatory evacuation, but it's a good time to get everything ready in case conditions change.
Current Fire Information
- Over 74,000 acres have burned.
- The fire is currently 0% contained.
- Nearly 1,000 firefighters and support personnel are working the fire, along with aircraft and Colorado National Guard resources.
If you're under pre-evacuation, now is the time to prepare
- Pack a few days' worth of clothes.
- Gather important documents, medications, and anything you can't easily replace.
- Fill up your vehicles with gas.
- Make a plan for your family, pets, and livestock.
- Keep your phone charged and pay close attention to official updates.

- Pathfinder Regional Park – 6639 Highway 115, Florence
Disaster Assistance Center
- Pueblo Academy of Arts – 29 Lehigh Avenue, Pueblo
Pets & Livestock
- Household pets can be taken to Pathfinder Regional Park in Florence.
- Large animals and livestock are being accepted at the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo. Enter through Gate 7 on Small Avenue.
Things to Have Ready
- IDs, insurance papers, and other important documents
- Prescription medications
- Phone chargers and battery packs
- Food and water for several days
- Clothes and basic toiletries
- Pet food, carriers, leashes, and vaccination records
- Baby supplies, if needed
- Glasses, hearing aids, or other medical equipment
- Family photos or other irreplaceable items
- Extra vehicle keys
